Adulting at the Wilderness

More and more couples are discovering that our resort is the perfect destination for a fun and relaxing getaway. Whether you choose to stay at our main hotel, the serene Wilderness on the Lake overlooking Lake Delton, or treat yourself to a luxurious guest room at Sundara Spa, we’ve put together a three-day itinerary to help you make the most of your time in the Wisconsin Dells with that special someone.

Day 1: Adventure and Indulgence

Mid-Morning:
Start your trip with a round of golf at our Wild Rock Golf Club. Our stunning championship golf is unlike any other, blending three distinct terrains – woodland area with a beautiful natural stream, the Dells’ iconic sandstone ridges, and the rocky mounds of a former quarry – into one memorable round of golf! Plus, with its five sets of tees, it’s enjoyable and challenging for all skill levels. Tee times are required. Make yours here.

Option 2:
Not a golfer? No problem. Consider trying our adrenaline pumping Wilderness Canyon Zip Line. It features 5 lines and gives you an exhilarating bird’s eye view of the Wilderness Canyon as you soar more than 60 feet in the air. Open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Closed-toe shoes required; participants must weigh between 70 and 270 lbs.  To buy tickets click here .

Mid-Afternoon:
Check in at our resort (your lodging option will be ready by 4 pm and you will receive a text when you can occupy it). While you wait, head to our Wild WaterDome, change into your swimsuits in our convenient locker rooms and enjoy a refreshing cocktail at Margarita’s Swim-Up Bar.

Evening:
After settling into your room, get ready for a romantic dinner at Field’s at the Wilderness. Known for its prime steaks and elegant Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired design, Field’s offers an intimate dining experience. Try an old fashioned or dirty martini at the bar, and don’t miss the Wilderness Salad, Premier Lobster Bisque, and the Butter Brickle Crunch Torte for dessert. Open daily at 4 PM.

Post Dinner:
Cap off the night with a magical stroll through our Aquavia Lumina Enchanted Night Walk created in partnership with Moment Factory. The mile-long illuminated trail is the perfect tranquil escape from reality with its calming music and thousands of twinkling lights and lasers in our beautiful canyon of wonders. Day 2 Wellness and Exploration

Mid-Morning:
Pamper yourselves at our Sundara Spa, ranked the #3 Top Spa Resort in the Midwest by Travel + Leisure in their 2023 “World’s Best Awards.” Book a Spa Together service in a private suite designed for two, complete with a fireplace, spa-quality bath, and soothing chromatherapy lighting. Afterward, enjoy a light, healthy lunch at Nava and a relaxing afternoon at our Infinity Edge pool or Cambrian Oasis Indoor and Outdoor Pool.

Mid-Afternoon:
Enjoy a little retail therapy at Outlets at the Dells, featuring all of your favorite name brands. Open Monday-Saturday until 8 pm and Sundays until 7 pm.

Option 2:
Hop aboard an Original Wisconsin Ducks tour to get a glimpse of the natural sandstone formations that made Wisconsin Dells famous. Tours run until 4 pm April-May, Sept-Nov and until 7 pm June-Labor Day. To get tickets click here.

Evening:
Enjoy a hearty Italian meal at Sarento’s at the Wilderness. From rich pasta dishes to specialty pizzas, there’s something for everyone. We recommend starting with a Caesar Salad and Tomato Bisque and finishing with Tiramisu or Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse Torte.

Day 3: Nature and Wine
Morning:
Drive 20 minutes to Devil’s Lake State Park in eastern Sauk County, one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful parks. There, enjoy a peaceful 2.5 mile hike around the lake and through wooded trails that include beautiful viewpoints. (Picture courtesy of Travel Wisconsin).

Option 2:
If you’ve already explored to Devil’s Lake State Park, Mirror Lake State Park, just 10 minutes from our resort, also has some nice hiking trails that are deserving of your time.

Afternoon:
Drive to Wollersheim Winery & Distillery perched on a scenic hillside across the river from Prairie du Sac. This historic winery has been producing wine since the 1840s and is open daily from 12–5 pm. (Picture courtesy of Wollersheim Winery & Distillery).

Enjoy lunch at their Bistro Kitchen (open 12–4:30 pm from May 22 through fall; 12–3 pm during the rest of the year), sample brandy at their distillery, or join a wine tasting—available every 30 minutes, no reservations needed. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and toast to your memorable trip.
